Chocolate=love=yarn

So there is something in chocolate that is supposed to boost your mood when you are having a bad day. It was a bad day today. Random little things, screaming kiddo all day, one possible major financial melt down, and some sad but good in the end news. But after a day like today I needed some kind of perk. Well I went for yarn and not chocolate. I'm trying not to gain those close to 60lbs that I gained while pregnant with Marley.

We went to the new Knitty Couture on Delmar and I picked out some beautiful butterscotch colored Lorna's Laces for Veronik Avery's short row hat at interweave.com. The yarn is so buttery I can't stop my fingers from being all over it even when I'm not knitting it. Anyway, it worked, I'm feeling better.

I've done a ton of spinning this weekend and it was so much that this super strong, should be be able to tow a car with, metal wire broke. After my last post I didn't touch my spinning wheel, but actually got it out after going to the Weaver's Guild show in Brentwood on Saturday. I picked up a bunch of fiber, and went home and didn't stop spinning until my wire thing broke last night. Well I've got pictures, and I'll show you what I got, plus Halloween pictures from Miss Marley.

This is an alpaca/merino/bamboo blend that started out difficult to spin, but turned out really nice to spin. I would say that it's mostly a sportweight with little bits of bulky here and there. This has to be my favorite thing I have spun so far. This hank is approx. 4 oz, and I still have 4 more to go.

This is a Tussah silk alpaca blend I picked up Saturday. It really has a nice shine to it, and in the right light I feel like it almost glows. It spun so easily, must be the silk. Well it's a bulky weight fo sho. I think a hat/mitten combo would work well with it. I have 8 oz. total, and that's about half of it. Now I I have no idea if that's enough for a hot and mittens, but maybe.

And Marley and Beck on Halloween. He is not the big bad wolf, he's a werewolf, who gets pretty pissed off if you think he's the big bad wolf. There are completley different things espicially in the mind of a 4 year old.
